My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Grand South Grand neighborhood
Lemon Grass has long been my favorite restaurant in the Grand South Grand neighborhood, offering a vast selection of moderately priced and freshly prepared foods. Lots of veggie options, and dishes in two sizes - look for the C before a number to designate smaller lunch-sized servings. I especially delight in the chicken salad and the fried tofu on the appetizer menu - the first offers finely shredded cabbage with tender slivers of white meat chicken, a sprinkling of peanuts and tidbits of fried onion, drizzled with piquant fish sauce. The fried tofu dips in a yummy peanut sauce. Fresh spring rolls and crispy egg rolls are also delicious. Of the entrees, I recommend the vermicelli dishes, especially with grilled chicken, or grilled shrimp, or tofu for you veggie lovers. The hot pots (on the back menu) come crackling to the table, so the rice along the edges gets crispy and chewy, and feature your choice of ingredients - seafood, chicken, beef, tofu & more. Who can resist the wonderful Vietnamese iced coffee, rich with Cafe D'Monde and sweetened condensed milk? And for a tasty little dessert, consider the sweet potato flan! Lemon Grass is located at 3216 S Grand Blvd, in bright and lovely new quarters, much nicer than the old.
